CIO Strategic Plan: Planning Process

The Strategic Planning Group reviewed previous planning work conducted over the past several years and solicited feedback from members and stakeholders. 50 members and external stakeholders provided input via an electronic survey and through in-person focus groups. They also reviewed analysis of CIO programs conducted by staff and participants. The Strategic Planning Group met for an evening analysis session and then a full day planning retreat to review the ideas collected from stakeholders and to discuss planning goals. The group then synthesized this work and developed a draft four-year plan.
This strategic plan was then brought to the Board of Directors for approval in January 2009. Over the subsequent nine months, the Board of Directors revised the draft plan and finally adopted it in Fall 2009.
