COMMUNITY ORGANIZING AND MOBILIZATION

The Center for Intercultural Organizing holds trainings for immigrant and refugee community leaders and mobilizes multiple diverse constituencies to take action collectively. Because the Center for Intercultural Organizing works from a social justice perspective, we believe that the people most affected by an issue should be the individuals and communities leading and advocating for solutions.

Building Immigrant & Refugee Organizing Capacity

The Center for Intercultural Organizing assists immigrant/refugee groups in building the organizing skills necessary to impact policies that affect them, through:

  • Holding organizing trainings for immigrant and refugee community leaders that help them understand how to build power in their communities;
  • Training participants to elicit indigenous communications and organizing techniques to mobilize their constituencies; and
  • Orienting immigrants/refugees to U.S. institutional systems and demonstrating how to effectively fight injustice within them.
