A Nonviolent Response to Terrorism
Presentation and
Book Reading Featuring Tom Hastings

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2004
7:00 PM at the First Unitarian Church
1011 SW 12th Avenue
Downtown Portland

Terrorism, which by definition targets civilians, is unacceptable, but a violent response to violence usually causes more violence. Portland is privileged to have a scholar of peace and nonviolence studies, who has recently published a book about what a nonviolent response to terrorism might contain. PSU Conflict Resolution Professor Tom Hastings has outlined some of the best thinking about nonviolent methods of resisting terrorism in the growing fields of international aid and nonviolent interposition in his book, A Nonviolent Response to Terrorism. Join us for a public forum and book signing on this important subject, featuring the author.

Free and Open to the Public
